Attention All Members

Harrison PBA Local #22 is asking for your support.  Recently, the Harrison Police Chief filed for retirement which will be effective March 1, 2018.  The mayor and council called for a chief’s test and four Lieutenants applied for, studied and passed that test.  Since the scores were published, the number three candidate was selected as acting chief by the retiring chief.  There is a strong suggestion that the mayor and council intend to promote the number three candidate to chief of police. In order to preserve the integrity of the promotion process, PBA Local 22 submitted a written request encouraging the town to promote the number one candidate in keeping with over twenty years of past practice.  Unfortunately, the mayor and council have asserted that it is their right to choose who they want and have most recently indicated that they may even decide on a police director instead.

The members of PBA Local 22 believe this is not in the best interests of the town, its citizens, the police department or our fellow officers.

There will be a town council meeting on Tuesday, February 6, 2018 at 6:30 PM at the Harrison Town Hall, 318 Harrison Ave, Harrison, NJ 07029.  While we have no way of knowing if there will be any movement on the issue at this meeting, we would appreciate some support so that we may voice our concerns in the appropriate venue.

We request that supporters arrive by 5:30 PM so that we have time to organize.

Thank you for your anticipated assistance,

Allan Ford, President

Joe Nigro, State Delegate
